Triumphant Lutheran Church’s new Pastor

Born and raised in the Lutheran church, Pastor Aaron bases his theology and identity on being a child of God. His calling is to lead a community of the faithful in order to seek out fresh and steadfast ways to serve our God, a God who is continually guiding us and speaking to His incarnate nearness, joy, justice, and hospitality.

The son of a manager with Dupont and a high school English teacher and librarian, Pastor Aaron had the opportunity to live in several parts of the country before settling in Beaumont, Texas. He attended Lamar University and earned a Bachelor of Science  in Psychology in 2004. During his time at Lamar, he was also the manager of a Chick-fil-A in Beaumont. He then moved to Syracuse, New York, and served as an Intern for Atonement Lutheran Church for one year. He attended the seminary at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, and earned a Master in Divinity in 2009.  Pastor Aaron was ordained August 2, 2009.

He then served as the Senior Pastor at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Trenton, New Jersey, from 2009 to 2013.  St. Bart’s, located in an urban setting, allowed Pastor Aaron the opportunity to minister to people representing a diverse multi-cultural background. For the past four years, he has been serving as the Assistant to the Bishop for Communication and Mission Interpretation for over 170 ELCA congregations in the state of New Jersey.  This position provided Pastor Aaron with a unique opportunity to serve, experience, and learn from many Lutheran communities while witnessing that in spite of the differences between God’s people, we are still brought together in a common belief and understanding.

Experienced in multi-cultural settings, he has grown to appreciate the images of Revelation 7, where the people of all nations, tribes, peoples, and languages stand before the throne of God.  He possesses an enthusiasm for the important missions of pastoral care and visitation, and and for youth and family ministries, using innovation, creativity, passion, and humor to carry out these important ministries.  Pastor Aaron believes in encouraging and creating a strong laity leadership team, and tapping into the many talents of the congregation to help nurture and grow TLC.

Pastor Aaron brings a passion for preaching and worship leadership to help us think through how the Word and Sacraments relate to our daily lives.

Pastor Aaron has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 13 years. They have two beautiful daughters. Please keep the Richter family in your prayers as they transition from life in New Jersey to their home, work, and community here.

Pastor Aaron's first day is Tuesday, August 15 and he will lead worship services on the weekend of August 19-20, 2017.
