CONFIRMATION MINISTRY AT TRIUMPHANT

What is Confirmation?

At baptism, God claims us as His holy children. We were given the free gift of membership in the family of God and set apart for God’s work in the world.

Most most of us were baptized as children, possibly too young to fully grasp what was happening. We were also too young to take on the full responsibilities of membership in God’s kingdom. Our parents and sponsors took on the responsibilities of those promises for us. They include:

  • faithfully bringing you to the services of God’s house

  • teaching you the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments

  • placing in your hands the Holy Scriptures

  • providing for your instruction in the Christian faith

  • So that you may lead godly lives until the day of Jesus Christ

In Confirmation classes, we teach them what it means to be an adult member of God’s church and prepare them to live the promises that their parents made for them. Throughout their 7th and 8th grade years, they will experience a confirmation journey, which will include:

  • Actively participating in the worship life of this congregation

  • Learning about the history and meaning of the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments

  • Becoming familiar with God’s story through the Old and New Testaments

  • Exploring God’s purpose for their lives

  • Deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Cementing their place in this community of worship

TLC's program is designed with a number of experiences and activities that will help young people with the above goals. Some of those include:

  • Weekly classes with the Confirmation teachers and mentors during Wednesday Nite Live

  • Weekly Sunday School

  • Sermon notes which will help focus on the weekly message

  • Servant events that will help them see the work of Christ in action

  • Confirmation Camp each summer—a concerted time of group building, learning and fun

  • A Credo Project—a chance for them to share what they believe at the end of their Confirmation journey
